Alfred Tennant, DDS

Dr. Tennant is our Orofacial Pain Specialist.  Although some conditions clearly benefit from early surgical intervention, he believes most are best managed non-surgically and conservatively.  He is the only Orofacial Pain Specialist in the Tampa Bay area and achieved Diplomate status from the American Board of Orofacial Pain.

Dr. Tennant completed a 2-year fellowship at the University of Florida, Parker Mahan Craniofacial Pain Center.  Prior to this, he received his undergraduate training at Loyola University in New Orleans then his doctorate from LSU School of Dentistry, also in New Orleans.

His specialties include the management of TMJ/TMD disorders, the many types of headaches, bite problems, nerve pain, burning mouth, dystonia, and aftereffects of head, neck, or face trauma. Many patients, some which have no pain, also have their obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) treated with oral appliances by Dr. Tennant. This is often done in collaboration with our surgeons, who treat OSA surgically.

Dr. Tennant has a broad professional background. He served in the US Navy Dental Corps, had his own private general practices and was assistant clinical professor at LSU School of Medicine, Shreveport, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

He is originally from Puerto Rico and speaks Spanish fluently.  He believes in staying physically fit and is a 4-time Ironman Triathlete.

His goal is to turn his patients into independent former patients. Safely.
